HOW TO SHOP DURING WEIGHT LOSS
Are you doing the Keto diet or have you had the Tummy operation? Are you on a diet and dropping down in weight? Is your body changing shape with your new healthy eating plan? Are you determine to lose weight and don’t want to go crazy shopping for all of your new sizes?
Here’s some useful tips on how to shop when your losing weight...
Over the years I have styled many woman who are on their way down in weight and we always give honest advice on what to buy and what not to buy during the process of weight loss. We want you wearing our clothes as long as possible!
At Key Black in Christchurch New Zealand we have a selection of NZ labels that cater for sizes 10-24 and we do have styles for 24+ you just need to talk to one of our stylist on what styles work for your size.
When investing in designer clothing you need to make sure you make the most of your budget and the clothes you add to the wardrobe. Read our tips and then chat to one of our stylists on what pieces would best suit your weight loss journey.
Should I buy basics when losing weight?
YES basics are one of the best things to add when going through weight loss.

The good thing about the Key Black (and Valpy) basics is we use a Viscose Spandex fabric that provides both comfort and stretch and this is also a great fabric for you ladies who maybe going through menopause or if you just get hot like I do as it is one that breathes. I wear this fabric for exercise too.
When we dress you for your basics depending on what program you are on for your weight loss we may go down 1-2 sizes.
Each dress size is approximately 8kg.
By getting the right size these could last you through 24kg + of weight loss in pants and in the top basic pieces they can take you through 32kg + of weight loss.
If I were loosing weight and needed basics...
The legging can take you through 24kg of weight loss
KB legging to test the theory I am a size 16 in this style and I would be able to wear the size 14 without putting stress into the seams. The size M legging on me fits now but are too loose in the leg, however these would still work as a slim line pant for long tops. So basically as they get too big you can wear them a bit looser as a casual pant instead of leggings. This style has an elastic waist so will go down in size with you.
Basics in the correct fabric can be a good investment.
What tops should I buy when loosing weight?
Depending on what’s in store at the time we normally have a number of different style tops that can move down with you.
A good example of this would be a loose fit top like the Janie Frill, Spot top or Juna tee.
Why these styles?
The Janie frill was designed by Valpy to wear as a oversized loose fit for the hot Summer days. When purchasing this style we would suggest going down 2 sizes & you can wear this one right through to probably 3 sizes smaller. A style like this would work for 16kg - 24kg in weight loss.
There is a rule when wearing over sized as you drop down and that’s to make sure you have fitting basics as we don’t want to cover up the new you... It’s important to keep your shape when in over sized styles.
Should I buy Jackets when dropping down in size?
Tailored jackets - NO
Casual jackets - YES
When going through a quick weight loss program it is best not to get fitted jackets and coats, I would recommend more a casual softer fabric jacket or cardi that can be worn slightly oversized.
Check out the new Harper jacket this one is in a soft fabric and has a tie so would be one you could wear over a few sizes.
I would say you would be better to layer up and don’t spend big money on Winter Jackets & Coats during weight loss.
